- Garnet is a silicate group of minerals that has had a long relationship with humankind.
- First recorded as ΑνθραϪέ in 325 B.C. by Theophrastus.
- Pliny the Elder recorded this stone in 77 A.D. as Carchedonius Garamanticus or Garamantic Carbuncle.
- The word Garnet derives from ‘Gernet’ meaning “dark red” and the “Granatus'' meaning grain or seed, like a Pomegranate.
