What are Crystals?

Crystals are minerals formed underground from three-dimensional repeating patterns of atoms. A crystal's appearance depends upon the natural characteristics of its type and the conditions in which it grows. Some take on strange shapes, some are very small and others grow very large, developing over thousands of years.

How do Crystals work?

Different crystals have different energies and properties, and between them can affect mental, physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of ourselves. Simply holding the right crystal at the right time can bring about a change in our attitude and well-being.

It is well known that atoms are always vibrating, so everything in the world vibrates, just at different frequencies. Different energy types vibrate at different frequencies, hence why crystals have specific strengths in a particular areas, because the crystal vibrates at the correlating energy frequency of the trait (eg. Rose Quartz vibrates on the energy of universal love).

The right crystal can affect the energy of an environment, and the energy it holds can influence you whether you simply hold it in your hand or place it by your bed or on the shelf.

Do I have to cleanse my Crystals?

Crystal Cleansing is quite the debated topic. Some people say that Crystals vibrate at such a high frequency, that humans cannot impact it. They believe that they have existed thousands of years without cleansing and are doing fine, that they are strong enough to not let certain energy affect them, that they transmute it and change it into something positive.

Others believe that you should always cleanse any new crystals you get to clear away any old or negative energy and start afresh for their journey with you. Crystals are efficient absorbers and transmitters of energies. One of their functions is to cleanse and transmute negative energies. They believe that if you leave your crystals to this without regular cleansing, most become saturated and unable to do their work. Though few are self-cleansing, like Selenite. If you use them for healing or meditation or guidance, cleanse before and after. Personally, I prefer to cleanse my crystals with incense as I feel energy is always evolving and stagnant or stuck energy is not beneficial to my path. Use your intuition to choose a cleansing method, if you choose to do so – whatever feels right for you and the crystal you want to cleanse.

Cleansing Methods include but are not limited to; smoke cleansing with intention (incense, 'smudge sticks' - though we recommend these are not made of white sage as they are culturally appropriated),
sound cleansing (sound bowls, bells, singing), water cleansing (be careful if the crystal is delicate or friable - click to see a list of water safe crystals), or you can use these methods in association with self-cleansing crystals, and crystals that cleanse others they are around. There are many other methods that I haven't listed, but no one has exactly the same method. You need to choose the option that feels right for you, and that will be perfect.

As soon as you get your package, cleanse your new crystal if you wish to do so, especially if it is jewellery, as the closer the crystal is in your Auric Field, the more it can affect you.

 

Crystal Programming/Charging

Do I have to charge my Crystals?

Crystals need to be dedicated to the purpose for which you use them, this is something that everyone agrees on. If you do not programme your crystal, it will only work at a subliminal level, if it is programmed and you are on the same page, you will get so much more out of your new crystal. If you just wanted it because it's a pretty rock, don't stress about this stuff, but you won't see the stone's impact in your life. Dedicate a new crystal as soon as you have cleansed it, even though they have their own natural energies, programming focusses the energy in which you have deemed the most important right now. You are more likely to notice a significant change if you programme your crystals.

Hold the crystal in your hands and picture light surrounding it, say out loud; "I dedicate this crystal to the highest good of all. May it be used in light and love."

Let yourself be open to higher guidance, consider the purpose for which you want to use it, you can select something from the Crystal's properties, or you can programme it for whatever feels right for you. You must be specific, if you want to attract love, describe exactly what kind of love you are looking for. Then you must attune to the crystal, surround yourself with its light, imagine what life will be like when you have that thing that you have attuned the crystal for. When you are in tune with your intention, say out loud "I program this crystal for [your purpose]. I am/have [your purpose]."

How do I use Crystals?

Put the crystal in a place where you will see it frequently, keep it in your pocket or in jewellery. It may be helpful to hold it two or three times a day, and again, imagine what life will be like when you have the thing you have programmed the crystal for. If you have experience with the Law of Attraction or Manifestation, you will notice some themes are quite similar.

This is because you can have all the holistic healing tools that you want, whatever helps you, but you will not achieve what you are wanting unless you are in tune with it, that you are at that energy frequency to attract your desire into your life.

Also, you must be aware, that if your programming didn't manifest, it is possible your crystal needs to be cleansed and reprogrammed, as it may have sensed something that needed to be healed first in order for you to attune to your desire. Or perhaps your desire is not meant for you, and something better is in store.
